"Mom-tographer" aka "A mom with a camera."

Ouch.. that hurt! Well maybe not anymore, but at one point it did. If you're reading this blog then chances are you've heard this term before. Or we've heard someone say the phrase

"Oh [so and so] got a camera and now she's a photographer.."

Well yeah... I am. Thanks for noticing! Is what I should have responded with but instead I hit the pavement and began building a legitimate business. There seems to be this negative connotation around moms with cameras.. I'm not sure why but I sure felt it when I first started out and I know I'm not the only one. I'd like to say that at least half of the photographers I personally work with all started the same way.. by buying a camera to take pictures of their own family. Then, realized they had a passion for artistically freezing those special moments and organically decided they could make money doing what they love.

So with that being said I decided we'll be taking back the term "momtagrapher" and finding the pride within raising a family AND starting you're own mom-boss business. It aint for the faint of heart, that's for sure. So, I'd like to offer my support to other mama's with cameras out there looking to start their own business. Even if it's just by writing "how-to" blogs or giving out my email for emotional support.. Us mamas have to stick together. And if nobody has told you today.. the laundry can wait.. YOU"RE DOING GREAT!
